After studying fashion design at Philadelphia University, Jorge Luis Salinas returned to Peru in 94 designing for a local department store. Four years later, he won his first award in Colone, Germany. In 2002, he again received high regard and was honored with the GEN ART award in New York because of his hand-weaving techniques and was also given the Best Collection title at Miami Fashion Week by Vogue Spain. Jorge Luis Salinas currently designs an urban line, from Peruvian denim and poplin, for Emporium, targeting a 15-35 year-old consumer.
